Wallace takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in
all its new world splendor. The Shiraz brings backbone, flesh and body to the
wine with the Grenache adding soft, vibrant juiciness. The wine is 78% Shiraz
and 22% Grenache. The wine is sourced from old vine fruit from the famous
Ebenezer sub zone at the Northern tip of Barossa. The Shiraz is 50 to 80 years
old and the Grenache from vines 50 to 110 years of age.
“The
2016 Wallace Shiraz-Grenache is the same 78/22 blend that the past two vintages
have been, but it seems a touch darker and richer on the nose and palate, if
perhaps a little less complex and nuanced. It's still a solid mouthful of bold
Barossa fruit, leaning toward black cherries in this vintage, with a slightly
creamy mouthfeel and a long, supple finish.” – 91pts, Parker’s Wine Advocate
