Our Customers Love This Wine World Class Red Wine Value Perfect For The Fall
94 Suckling, Big Rich Red Lovers, Respond Right Away!
We love hunting for great bargains. Unfortunately, bargains don’t last long
in our world once our customers catch wind of it. I am currently re
tasting today’s wine, and in the years I have been in the business, I keep
coming back to this and re stocking. We recommend that you stock up on this
before it sells out. The wines are from a Chilean producer called
Polkura. We love these guys, and so does the press.
Decanter Magazine noted that, “Their wines have progressed admirably since their debut and are deftly crafted, modern and terroir-driven, full of rugged individuality and honed power.”
Polkura’s journey starts in 1998, when winemaker Sven Bruchfeld along with his friend and university buddy Gonzalo Muñoz, were dreaming of future projects to do together. Gonzalo was studying in Spain and Sven was working in different wine regions around the world. Once both were back in Chile, they set out to find the best place to produce the wine they had in mind. Sven comes to visit us once a year. We love the guy!
Their standout wine is the
2017 Polkura Syrah. The wine has received tremendous press by all including being on a monster 94 from Suckling, 91 from Parker, and 91 from Spectator. We have just received a fresh allocation and our price of $22.99 with Free Case shipping makes this one of best red wine values we have ever offered. If you love big reds, you will flip for this wine and at the price, this is an absolute no-brainer. I strongly recommend and this a case plus buy!
Polkura Syrah 2017
Ripe, rich and powerful, offering exuberant flavors of blueberry, cassis and Christmas pudding that are matched to Asian spice notes. Dense dark chocolate and dried meat nuances emerge on the creamy finish. Drink now through 2025. – Wine Spectator
I ended up favoring the 2017 Syrah, as I find more freshness here and better balance, which coupled with finer and more elegant tannins makes for a more approachable wine. It's varietal with clear aromas and flavors and a remarkable finish. There is 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Viognier co-fermented with the Syrah. – Robert Parker
