Bergstrom Wines is a family owned and operated artisan producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay which was started in 1999 by Dr. John and Karen Bergstrom, with the help of their son Josh Bergstrom and his wife Caroline. Josh is general manager, vineyard manager and winemaker and pulls his expertise from his education in Burgundy, France and his 14 years experience making wines in Oregon's Northern Willamette Valley. Bergstrom focuses on hand crafting small lots of wines from their fice estate vineyards carefully chosen from fice of Oregon's six wine growing appellations. All estate acreage is farmed biodynamically and all wines express the wonderful diversity of Oregon's many great terroirs.

"Two thousand fifteen is one of the greatest Oregon vintages for a simple reason: the wines have both richness and energy," Josh Bergstrom told me. While he also ranks 2014 as among the best years in the state's winemaking history, "the '15s have freshness and delineation, plus they'll probably be delicious all their lives, without going through much of a closed stage." There's very little new oak in play here these days, a move that Bergstrom says has been a big part of his progress "away from the statement wines that a young guy feels like he has to make" and toward ones that he hopes "make you think rather than blow you away." By a good stretch, this is the strongest set of wines I have experienced here since my first visit back in 2005. From Oregon Pushes the Quality Needle for Pinot (Jan 2018) by Josh Raynolds

Tasting Notes: Wine Advocate 93 points- Medium ruby purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Gregory Ranch Vineyard delivers expressive black raspberry, black cherry and warm red currant notes with hints of Sichuan pepper, bay leaves and anise plus a waft of chargrill. Medium bodied and solidly constructed in the mouth, it has a solid backbone of chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy..August/2017

Vinous 94 points- (all whole clusters) Brilliant red. Vibrant, mineral accented red fruit, floral pastille, blood orange and incense aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a hint of smokiness with air. Shows superb delineation and lift on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry and cherry preserve, allspice and cinnamon flavors that deepen steadily on the back half. Delivers a suave blend of power and finesse and finishes very long and silky, with subtle tannins sneaking in late..January/2018
