The Dehlinger vineyard, family operated since 1975, comprises 45 acres of rolling hillside vines on a mixture of Goldridge and Altamont soils in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. A landmark Octagon House, also dating from 1975, stands atop a hill near the entrance to the property. Varietals grown and produced are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, with a combined annual volume averaging 7000 cases. The winery is owned by winemaker Tom Dehlinger and his wife, Carole, who live together on the property. Two of their four children, Carmen and Eva, have been involved full time with the operation since 2008.

TASTING NOTES: The Dehlinger Estate Chardonnay is composed primarily of the Wente Clone, which produces small clusters and berries and has a notable minerality with an almost oily viscosity. They ferment and age the Chardonnay in French oak barrels with full malolactic fermentation. Dehlinger planted their Chardonnay vines between 1975 and 1988, positioned on a variety of exposures in Goldridge series soils. Careful leafing allows dappled light to reach the clusters and we thin to balance the crop load.
