Description Build A Case!
The pioneering Mazzei family, owners of Chianti Classico’s highly esteemed Castello di Fonterutoli, took the helm at the Belguardo estate in Maremma, Tuscany in the 1990s after recognizing the potential for superb quality winemaking in the local terroir. In the years since, the Mazzeis have established a name for Belguardo among the top producers in this exciting, fast emerging wine region. Belguardo’s logo is fashioned after a geometrical symbol sketched by Leonardo da Vinci, represents a union between precision and perspective. It is emblematic of the Mazzeis’ commitment to combining exceptional growing conditions with centuries of winemaking expertise to yield concentrated, complex wines that are extraordinarily elegant and aromatic.

The 2015 Vermentino Belguardo opens with a crystalline, light gold color and beautiful aromatic intensity. This is a fine-tuned and focused expression of the grape with honey, yellow rose, flint, brimstone, fresh apricot and grapefruit. It’s beautifully refreshing and crisp with lots of zesty fresh fruit on the finish.

Anticipated maturity: 2018-2022.

The grapes are hand harvested early September and undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a cold 59ËšF to preserve the intense aromatics. The wine is quickly bottled in February in order to preserve freshness.

A brilliant pale straw yellow in colour, the wine impresses with aromas of yellow plums and peaches and some floral notes. Medium bodied, the palate has lovely minerality and refreshing acidity.
