Arguably
one of the greatest Vigna del Sorbo bottlings ever made, this mono-varietal
Sangiovese knocks it out of the park with its purity, nuance and transparency.
Red and blue fruits are framed with crushed flower petals, sun-warmed earth,
baking spices, leather and licorice in this remarkable ’13 bottling. Caressing
yet energetic, this wine complements its racy acidity with a velvety texture,
and its chewy tannins, breathtaking structure and long finish suggest that this
wine will age for decades. This mono-varietal Sangiovese derives from
forty-year-old vines grown on the estate’s southwest-facing Vigna del Sorbo
plot; the grapes ferment for three weeks with natural yeasts in
temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the wine ages in barrels,
one-half new, for 24 months before bottling.
