Description Build A Case!
The Orogeny Pinot Noir displays bright cranberry and Bing cherry aromas with seductive Asian spice and cinnamon nuances. The vibrant, silky flavors mirror the aromas, picking up blackberry and toffee notes on the lingering finish. This array of complex flavors comes from several small vineyards in the renowned Green Valley subappellation of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. The wine’s lush flavors complement roast duck with cherry sauce, pork tenderloin with wild mushrooms and grilled salmon. After destemming the hand-harvested clusters, we cold soaked the must for gentle extraction of varietal character and tannins. Fermentation in small, open-top fermenters, with gentle punch downs of the cap, was followed by in-barrel malolactic fermentation to round acidity. Aging in French oak barrels wove oak spices through the opulent fruit flavors. Winemaker Dan Goldfield racked and blended the wine in early spring to allow the vineyard flavors to marry during barrel aging.
