This is a terrific
collaboration between Gretchen Thomas and Pagos de Indalia. Gretchen is the
Wine and Spirits Director for a high-end restaurant group and has been working
with Spanish winemakers for more than a decade. Pagos de Indalia, located in
Almeria, which is a mountainous area in Spain that is producing stunning values
out of Spain. The 2014 Vino del Mercado is a tiny production, in the garagist
tradition that still beats strongly in Spain and within the region of Almeria.
This is modern Spain at its best, juicy and alive with beautiful Spanish fruit
and hints of spice.
Tasting Notes: Wine of intense ruby red color with purple
reflections. On the nose we find a lot of red fruit (raspberry, strawberry). On
the palate fresh and very fine tannins that give elegance and personality to
this wine. With Syrah in the blend, expect hints of spice throughout. Perfect
with fall fare to accompany a meal.
