– Polkura is the name of a little hill located within a prized group
of Colchagua vineyards known to source premier fruit for some of Chile’s finest
producers such as Viña Montes; and on its slopes grow the Malbec grapes which
make this incredible wine! Its name means "yellow stone" in
the native Chilean Mapuche language, making reference to large amounts
of yellow granite spread along the clay soils of the area. College
pals Sven Bruchfeld and Gonzalo Munoz reunited with a common goal – to make an
exceptional new world Syrah. They chose the western end of the Colchagua
Valley in Chile, a region that offered untapped potential for the varietal.
Tasting Notes: “Winemaker Sven Bruchfeld has stepped up
his Malbec game with this wine. The nose is jammy and full of cassis,
blackberry, leather and a whiff of fine aged cheese. It feels lush and dense,
with powerful, driving flavors of blackberry, dark plum, spice and herb. It’s
big but not punishing on the slightly minty finish.” — Wine Enthusiast
