Taste 90 point Tanzer and modern Spain in all of its glory. The 2008 Cerro Anon Gran Reserva is produced by one of Spain’s best-known estates, Bodegas Olarra, which is considered Rioja’s cathedrals of red wine. Year in and year out, they produce some of the very best wine in the region. The Gran Reserva spends a full 24 months in oak and is Olarra’s very best. Robert Parker is a tremendous fan of the wine noting, “Another quality wine under the Cerro Anon label, this premium option has a deep, dark colour and ruby touches around the rim. The wine opens up with ripe red berry aromas combining with smoky nuances and hints of spices. On the palate it is full and round, thanks to the long period spent in the bottle. Confirming all the best expectations, it lingers on after swallowing the wine, with a soft, smooth sensation in which elegance is the most marked impression”
Tanzer’s 90 Point Review & Tasting Notes: Ruby-red. Smoky red fruit, tobacco and floral scents are complicated by notes of vanilla and mocha. Sweet and seamless in texture, with supple cherry and floral pastille flavors gaining weight and spiciness with air. Finishes on a peppery note, with gentle tannins and very good persistence.
