This is exceptional quality and a great buy! 2012 is shaping up to be a great vintage from Tuscany. Parkers Wine Advocate comments on 2012, "2012 is shaping up to be a great vintage, perhaps one of the greatest. The wines possess stunning depth, well delineated aromatics and massive structure. I would say the 2012s have the aromatics of 2004, the fruit density of 2007 and the structure of 2006." These wines sound pretty good, don't they? One of the finest wines at the best price from this vintage is the wine I have today, the 2012 Montepeloso A Quo. The wine is superb capturing the essence of this awesome vintage. A great nose, rich and round with the stuffing to lay down in the cellar if you can wait that long. The wines of Proprietor Fabio Chiarelloto are some of the highly prized coming out of Tuscany today. The A Quo is his baby and if you like Tuscany best I also highly recommend seeking out his Eneo and his Nardo, both get huge scores by Parker but at a higher price point. Italy's leading wine publication, Gambero Rosso, comments, "Montepeloso has achieved a level of success and a renown in the world of wine that no one could have imagined a short while ago." Mr Chiarelloto has that drive passion that only the great winemakers have. He believes in his philosophies of making and does not give a damn what other's think, totally obsessive with quality. Montepeloso is located in one of the warmer parts of the Tuscan coast called Suvereto which is also home to one of the other Super Tuscan greats Tua Rita. The climate allows Chiarelloto to grow other red grapes like Montepulciano and Allicante to include in his Super Tuscan blends and the results are exceptional. This red is one of the great buys coming out of Tuscany today, I strongly recommend while we have availability.

Tasting Notes: The 2012 A Quo is insanely beautiful. It boasts gorgeous, well delineated aromatics and tons of energy. The vibrancy of the fruit is impossible not to admire. Red plums, raspberries, berries and graphite give the wine a cool intensity and minerality that are striking. Layers of fruit build to the vinous yet structured finish. This is a great wine that captures the full personality of the 2012 vintage in Tuscany. It also happens to be a steal. In 2012 the blend is 30% Montepulciano, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, 10% Marselan and 10% Alicante Bouschet. Anticipated maturity: 2014 2022.
