40% Touriga Franca; 40% Tinta Roriz; 20% Tinta Cao.

This is a beautiful Sino, rather full in the mouth for this level, soft and caressing on the palate and simply bursting with flavor. There is not a lot of mid-palate concentration, despite the full-bodied initial feel, but the juicy finish is laced with sweet fruit and it is quite delicious. There are ripe tannins for support. The wine has a fresh, bright feel that should make it easily approachable, but it may improve further over the next year, too. It is impeccably balanced and quiet lovely for mid-term consumption.

The wine is a classic Douro blend dominated by Touriga Franca, giving a rich, soft and juicy character that is ready to drink. It has great fruit, spice and integrated tannins.

Fresh and elegant with very seductive balanced fruit and soft approachable tannins. This is a wine that expresses the wild beauty of its Douro Origins.

2013 RAMOS PINTO PORTO LATE BOTTLED VINTAGE 750ML
2013 RAMOS PINTO PORTO LATE BOTTLED VINTAGE 750ML
Bottle Price $19.99

Founded in 1880 by brothers Adriano and Antonio, Ramos Pinto is run today by the heirs of these two energetic vintners. The House was acquired by Champagne Louis Roederer in 1990 and owner Jean Claude Rouzaud calls Ramos Pinto ”the jewel of the Douro.” A visitor sitting on the porch at Bom Retiro, sweeping his gaze up from the valley floor to the vine covered terraces stepping up steep slopes and culminating in blue sky above, can appreciate his sentiments. Among Port producers, Ramos Pinto enjoys the distinction of holding the largest proportion of vineyards in relation to its production, giving it a high degree of control over viticultural methods and harvest time. The House tends 460 acres of prime vineyards in the Alto Corgo and Douro Superior areas of the famed Douro region, the mountainous valley formed by the Douro River and its tributaries. The four quintas or estates that make up Ramos Pinto’s holdings are the Quinta do Bom Retiro, Quinta de Ervamoira, Quinta de Urtiga, and Quinta do Bons Ares. Ramos Pinto blends single quinta ports from Bom Retiro and Ervamoira grapes, and a single quinta port from Urtiga. more info

1985 DOW PORTO VINTAGE 750ML
1985 DOW PORTO VINTAGE 750ML
Bottle Price $117.99

For over two centuries the name of DOW has been associated with the finest Port from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley. Throughout the 20th Century and into the 21st, the Symington family has built on the legacy of the preceding Silva and Dow families. Generations of Symington winemakers have worked at the Dow’s vineyards: Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira, creating from them Dow’s superbly concentrated wines that are intense and tannic when young, maturing towards a superlative racy elegance with age and scented with violet and mint aromas. Dow’s attractive and distinctive drier finish is the recognisable hallmark of the wines from this great Port house.

Dow’s Vintage Ports are only produced in years of exceptional quality and represent only a very small part of the total company’s production in that year. On average only two or three times every ten years are the weather conditions sufficiently good to allow for the making of Dow’s Vintage Port. Dow’s Ports avoid an over-rich style and requires a very high degree of skill in wine making and great experience in selecting the finest wines of each year and each vineyard. These wines are aged in seasoned oak casks for some 18 months and are bottled without any filtration or fining whatsoever.
