Robert Parker, “If I had only
one Brunello to drink, it would be Pertimali.”
wines of Pertimali are on a roll. Their 2010 Brunello received 100 pts by
Suckling. We recently offered their Brunello Riserva and it sold out in a
flash. This is a benchmark Brunello di Montalcino producer. Owned by the
Sassetti family who have been making wines for over one hundred years,
Pertimali is in the north east of the Montalcino zone. Their vineyards or on
one of Brunello sweet spots, the famous Montosoli Hill. Quality trickles down.
wine is the smart buy from Pertimali the 2014
Pertimali Rosso di Montalcino. The wine is made by the same grapes
from the same vineyards that go into the Brunello and the Brunello but instead
of them spending a large amount of time in bottle and oak. The wine spend about
a year in oak made in more ready drinking style, still brilliant quality made
by Pertimali but to be enjoyed now and over the next three years. No need to
lay down in the cellar for many years to come. Even better is the price the
wine can be had for $21.99, a great price for this wine and a great price for
what’s in the bottle. Our allocation will sell out at this price.
Sassetti Rosso di Montalcino “Pertimali” 2014 offers aromas of intense, ripe
red berries and a palate showing fruity black cherry, elegant, supple, slightly
tannic notes and fine length. The wine is not lacking in complexity and
character showing great Tuscan class. Captures the essence of Sangiovese from
Montalcino in its generous black cherries, underbrush, smoke, tar and licorice.
A powerful, serious Rosso, it offers great length as well as superb overall
