2016 SCARBOLO MERLOT 750ML
2016 SCARBOLO MERLOT 750ML
Bottle Price $14.99

Since the birth of the winery, Scarbolo’s philosophy has been very clear: contribute to a wine culture surpassing easy generalizations and fast trends that don’t belong to the world of farming. They have consciously invested in the Grave area of Friuli that for a long time has been considered only capable of ‘quantity’ wines, despite its amazing soil characteristics. Valter Scarbolo inherited a passion for the vine from his father’s interest in viticulture. They planted their first vineyards in the 80s, in their hometown of Lauzacco. Lauzacco is located in Friuli on the right bank of the river Torre, just south of the Colli Orientali. The Scarbolo family puts immense effort into the vineyards in order to produce structured and elegant wines that represent the distinct characteristics of their native land. Their philosophy includes densely planting the vines and rigorously implementing sustainability practices to help preserve the ecosystem. Scarbolo takes great pride in native Friulian varietals such as Friulano, Refosco and Ribolla Gialla. International varietals also thrive exceptionally well in this terroir, including Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. They are producing 96,000 bottles on 30 Ha of vines.

The color is ruby red with violet hues. On the nose, fragrant aromas of wild berries and herbaceous notes of violets. Soft and silky body with sweet tannins and balanced structure. A perfect wine to pair with salumis and roasted red meats. Serve at 60 - 64°F.

2016 ATTEMS PINOT GRIGIO RAMATO CUPRA RAMATO 750ML
2016 ATTEMS PINOT GRIGIO RAMATO CUPRA RAMATO 750ML
Bottle Price $15.99

For generations, Attems has been considered synonymous with viticulture in Friuli Venezia Giulia and an example of a philosophy that sees the true expression of its territory in the wine’s quality and personality. A notion that translates into a collection of renowned wines, indisputably Friuli with a unique style, reflecting its tradition in the times of today.

TASTING NOTES:
Cupra Ramato continues a tradition of the Republic of Venice, since “ramato," or coppery, was the term that referred to Pinot Grigio in contracts. A special vinification practice led to the use of this term: the must remains in contact with the skins for 36 hours and this practice gives the wine a very distinctive coppery hue. Attems Cupra Ramato boasts a rich, fruity bouquet, and opens full and weighty on the palate, with multi-faceted flavours.

2017 BASTIANICH ROSATO DI REFOSCO 750ML
2017 BASTIANICH ROSATO DI REFOSCO 750ML
Bottle Price $15.99

The Bastianich winery, founded in 1997, strives to understand the history and culture of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and take it to a new level. Restaurateur Joseph Bastianich with his mother, the renowned chef Lidia Bastianich, bought a vineyard in Buttrio, a town in the Colli Orientali DOC. The family is very precise in their winemaking, controlling yields so that each individual vine produces one bottle of wine. They employ traditional manual methods in the vineyard and create wines that express the character of the land.

Refosco, known for producing spicy reds with dark fruit flavors (also used in our Vespa Rosso and Calabrone), expresses itself here in a refreshing way with aromatic intensity and unexpected weight on the palate for a rosato. Our dedication and focus on Friuli's indigenous varieties led us to create this unique and easily drinkable expression of Refosco.

TASTING NOTES:
An intensely colored rosato filled with aromas of rose petals, fresh strawberries, violets and orange peel. Medium weight on the palate with fresh, clean , mouthwatering acidity. Our rosato is actually closer to a light red wine than most other rose wines.
