The Blackbilly name is drawn from the Yacca tree (or grass tree) that has spikey leaves and a unique spear shaped flower. Periodically bushfires change the Australian bushland and burn the "blackbillys" into their distinctive shape. Unique spear shaped flowers grow out as part of the regeneration of the plant.

The Blackbilly GSM capture the essence of McLaren Vale and Australian wines. This wine is a drinker, the right amount of oak, glorious fruit concentration, rich and opulent, also velvety soft throughout. The price to quality is superb at under twenty dollars a bottle, 91pts Halliday and 90pts Parker. This wine has it all and begs you to have another glass.

Blended of 54% Grenache, 40% Shiraz and 6% Mourvedre, the 2010 Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre has a deep garnet-purple color and notes of raspberry preserves, blackberries and black plums with hints of baking spices, violets and star anise. Medium to full-bodied, it is generously fruited in the mouth with medium-high acid, a medium level of velvety tannins and a long finish. Drink it now to 2017+.
