Every
Person Who Tastes This Wine Thinks Its Fifty To Sixty a Bottle
The pinnacle of big red is Bordeaux.
Winemakers throughout the world try and emasculate and copy the great wines of
Bordeaux. The problem is that these wines are expensive and quite honestly have
priced themselves out of the market for regular consumers. To the same point
the Bordeaux's that are out their between fifteen to twenty five dollars are
for the most part absolute garbage. This wine I bring to you today breaks the
mold. Experience Bordeaux in all its greatness, a true Bordeaux, from possibly
the greatest vintage ever from the Medoc at a great price. The staff at Grapes
sat down last night and all agreed that the best big red this year that has the
biggest bang for your buck is
the 2009 Chateau Maison Blanche. I love tasting
wine lovers with good palates, people I taste with often, taste this wine, love
it and then I ask them the price and without fail they come back to me over
fifty dollars a bottle. The shock on their faces when I tell them it's a
twenty dollar bottle is truly priceless.
The 2009
vintage for Bordeaux is one of the greatest ever. Robert Parker has declared
the vintage as the finest ever!
Parker on 2009 Bordeaux, "After
spending nearly two weeks in Bordeaux at the end of January, this is
unquestionably the greatest Bordeaux vintage I have ever tasted."
The
vintage is now included as one of the all-time greats with '82, '61 and '45.
Old editions of the Feret Guide (the "Bordeaux wine bible") place
Chateau Maison Blanche among the most famous of the 19th-century Crus
Bourgeois. The Chateau dates back to 1821 and received Cru Bourgeois status in
1932. In 1998, Patrick Bouey bought the Château. He appreciated the incredible
potential of this northern Medoc terroir and invested heavily in modernizing
the vineyards.
For expert help, he turned to Stephane
Derenoncourt
, whom "many recognize as the most sensitive and
sensible winemaker in all Bordeaux."
(Financial Times). Stephane
Derenoncourt has been dubbed the
"world's hottest
winemaker"
by Wine Spectator magazine. The firm he founded,
Vignerons Consultants, works with more than 90 wineries around the world
including Alonso del Yerro in Spain, Rubicon in Napa, Prieure Lichine in
Bordeaux as well as
100pt Parker wines like 2009 Beausejour and Wine
Spectator's Top 100 #2 wine this year the 2010 Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere.
Today Chateau Maison Blanche is a
forty acre property with average age of wine thirty years, focusing on Cabernet
and Merlot. The wine spends 12 months in small French oak, is a rich opulent,
great concentration and well-proportioned Bordeaux, 91 pts. Spectator and at
$19.99 per bottle on a case a tremendous buy. Our first allocation flew out of
here and we have just received more to offer. The wine combines the best of the
old world with modern vineyard management and wine making techniques. If you
love Napa cabs, find out where they came from, this wine will blow you away at
the price
. 91pts Spectator, under twenty, insane buy!
Spectator: Vibrant, with nicely packed raspberry, fig
and blackberry fruit carried by mouthwatering acidity and well-embedded
structure. Lots of anise, spice and tar frames the finish. Best from 2012
through 2019.
