I am always on the hunt for a great wine at a great price and the hardest place to find them these days is Napa. The days of finding great red wine under twenty from Napa is a thing of the past. This wine however breaks that mold and floored me for what's in the bottle at the price we can offer it to you for. Once in a while one of Napa's finest winemakers in this case a winemaker that has made a 100pt Parker wine as a favor makes some value wines to support suppliers who sell their wines across the country. This is that case and the results are spectacular. Last night I tasted the 2009 Elara Meritage and I can tell you the quality to price ratio, the value of this wine is unmistakable and unparalleled in the marketplace. The wine screams Napa, rich, opulent dark fruits, silk and satin, French oak with that gorgeous Napa velvety texture. The wine is a blend of some of the most coveted vineyard site in Napa, average age of vines is forty five years and the fact that the winemaker makes some of the most elite Cabernet's in Napa comes through in the style of this wine. The wine spends eight months in French oak of which 70% is new and total production is a mere 410 cases for the whole country. This will sell out fast.

Rich Well Focused and nicely proportioned, ripe dark berry, black licorice, cedar, espresso and tobacco flavors. Full-bodied, ending with a graceful mix of tiered flavors and texture.
