There’s Brunello and then there’s Valdicava Brunello! The Valdicava Brunello is the benchmark wine from the region. Valdicava is considered the finest of all Brunello. Owner/Winemaker Vincenzo Abruzzese who is kind enough to come in and taste with our customers every couple of years is a genius. I am always amazed at various tastings of Brunello over the years. The new vintage will come in and we taste through various wines, some are better than others and one or two I will consider to be spectacular and then you taste the Valdicava Brunello. The wine is always head and shoulders above all others. Valdicava is one of Parkers top 3 favorite producers. 2001 Valdicava Riserva Madonna got 100 pts by Spectator. This is perfection territory. Regular Valdicava 2006 got 95+ pts Parker and 95 pts Spectator.
