The Talleys began farming in Edna Valley in 1948. First planted in 1991, Oliver’s Vineyard is characterized by heavier clay soils typical of the Edna Valley. The vines are moderately vigorous and yields average less than three tons per acre in the original 16 acre planting. Lovers of Stephen Ross’ Chard from this vineyard will no doubt be curious to compare and we’ve just that. It’s one of the great fun pleasures of wine. Beautiful, lively tropical aromas of pineapple and creamy coconut layered with notes of lemon custard, lime zest and hints of jasmine. On the palate, this wine is full bodied and well balanced with citrus fruit flavours and a bright minerality that finished long and elegant. This chardonnay pairs perfectly with rich shellfish dishes like sautéed jumbo shrimp, sea scallops and lobster.
