93 PTS WINE SPECTATOR
Featured in Wine Spectator Issue: Sep 30, 1999
Lovely, with mineral, plum, wet earth and red berry character. Complex and supple, this tightly wound wine is both sweet and firm, holding up beautifully. Great stuff. The silky character mixes nicely with the still-rigorous tannins.--La Tāche vertical. Drink now through 2010. -Wine Spectator
"Whatever concerns we might have had about the Burgundy's vigor quickly faded once the bottle was poured. Like almost every bottle of '59 La Tāche I've tasted, this one was fantastic, both youthful and vibrant, with dried cherry, exotic spice and trufflelike, fresh earthen floor nuances. These ethereal subtleties can only come with age and are what make great older La Tāches so celestial." -James Laube, Wine Spectator's Napa Valley-based senior editor wrote in an article titled: Worlds Apart, Thursday, April 08, 2004
