Tasting Notes: The vineyard is 2.82 hectares of 1er Cru "Vau de Vey" that were planted in 1979. This 1er Cru is very highly regarded by those in the know due to its steepness and E/SE exposure. In fact, Vau de Vey is the steepest 1er Cru vineyard in Chablis nearing 50 degrees gradient and as a result is completely barren of topsoil. This gives the wines an extra steely and wild character with surprisingly exotic fruit. There are only four producers who own plots of this unique vineyard, Michel Laroche, Herve Azo, Chateau de Maligny and Romain Bouchard. Romain keeps his yields to around 36 hl/ha and produces about 750 cases a year.
