91 Pts RP r 91 pts Parker
From Priorat’s New Super Star
Glorious Concentration Matched With Elegant Finesse
Spectacular Big Reds At Great Prices

There is no question that the great regions of France and Spain have experienced spectacular back to back vintages in 2009 and 2010. Today I focus on a great red from Priorat. This region of scattered hillside and mountainside vineyards makes some of the greatest red wines in the world. Wines like Mogador, Alvaro Palacios L’Ermita and Clos Erasmus are some of the finest wines in the world that hail from Priorat and they have a price tag to match. One of the new super stars of this region is a gentleman by the name of Alfredo Arribas a great Spanish Architect who decided to take his art of precision and apply it winemaking. The results have been spectacular and his wines have been huge accolades from Priorat and Montsant, the area surrounding Priorat. Arribas started in 2001 resurrecting abandoned old vine terraced vineyards and today has 15 hectares under vine. One of the great values coming out of the Priorat is his wine called Gotes del Priorat. In both 2009 and 2010 vintage, the wines received 91 pts by parker. These are both great vintages , 2009 is richer and more opulents and 2010 shows more precision and balance and on this offer I have an opportunity for you to try them both. Both wines are spectacular, superbly rich and supple and exptremely well made. These are big reds at low prices that have the class and depth of wines that are double to triple the price. The wine is a typical blend of old vine Grenache and Carignan with a small percentage of Cabernet that rounds out the wine. The wine spends 11 months in small French oak and is unfiltered to show its true expression. Love big reds Cabs, Malbecs and Shiraz, these wines will blow you away! Hugely concentrated and smooth as silk, definite palate pleasers.

Portal del Priorat’s red wines begin with the entry-level 2009 Gotas del Priorat. Aromas of spice box, lavender, mineral, black cherry, and plum inform the nose of this relatively forward, lengthy, value-priced Priorat. It will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring and deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2021.

CHATEAU LANESSAN

Red Wine Hand-Picked
90 Pts RP r 90pts Parker
Just Arrived, Straight From The Cellars of Bordeaux.
A 2000 vintage of this caliber at this price is a great buy
This is a Bordeaux lovers dream and if you have ever wanted experience great Bordeaux without breaking the bank. This is your wine! The 2000 Chateau Lanessan is truly one of the great values from Bordeaux. The 2000 vintage is one of the all time greats. Rivaling the finest ever, 2009, 2000, 1982, 1961 and 1945. Chateau Lanessan from any vintage is considered one of the all-time great values for Cabernet based, Left bank Bordeaux. The property is in the Medoc and neighbors the great appellation of St Julien, literally a nine iron away. Lanessan has been in the Boutellier family for eight generation and Parker himself proclaimed that, “Lanessan regularly produces wine on a par with classified Fifth Growths.” The wine has had time to age to perfection coming straight to us from Bordeaux and it is at its peak drinking window which Parker puts at 2006 to 2016. Parker has also proclaimed that this wine is a “sleeper” of this great vintage making it extremely under-valued for what’s in the bottle. This is a spectacular offer and I strongly recommend.

The sleeper 2000 is tannic yet juicy, structured, and intense, with copious quantities of black currant fruit tinged with cedar and damp earth notes. Medium to full-bodied, pure, and classic, it will be at its peak between 2006-2016. A generous Lanessan, with a deep ruby/purple color and a classic nose of cedar, spice box, black currant, plum, and earth, the wine has sweet tannin, medium to full body, loads of concentration, and a long, layered finish, with light to moderate tannin. 60% Cabernet, 35% Merlot, 4% Petit verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
