This Wine Is Mind-blowing From The Classic 2007 Vintage
2007 Robert Sinskey POV With A Massive Savings
We sold this wine in the 2006 vintage for $59.99 a bottle. The 2006 was good but the added depth and fruit concentartion that the classic 2007 vintages adds to the wine makes it one of the finest wines I have tasted this year from this great vintage at its price point. The wine is from one of Napa’s blue chip producers Robert Sinskey and the wine is a blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. I loved the wine so much that we went deep and we were able secure the wine at a spectacular price of $34.99 net. The 2007 Robert Sinskey POV at this price this is one of the best buys we have seen from this great vintage. An absolute no-brainer.
In the latest Tom Stevensons annual Wine Report (required reading for hardcore wine insiders) Robert Sinskey is named amongst the top ten of the best California producers. Sinskey makes a myriad of wines today largely from Carneros but their original 5 acre vineyard in Stags Leap District on the right side of the Silverado Trail (the best side), the steep hillside vines grown in rocky volcanic soils, makes some of the most mind-blowing, ageable Cabernet and Bordeaux blends Napa has to offer.
Robert Sinskeys wines age superbly. Sinskey firmly believes that wine is not an athletic event. Robert Sinskey is a Doctor by profession who almost fell into the wine business. Back in the day he decided as a business investment to invest in the Acacia Winery. Acacia was not doing well and was purchased by the Simone Wine Group. In 1988 Simone bought out Sinskey by handing him the deed to 5 acres of prime vineyards in Stags Leap District. This vineyard produces a few hundred cases a year of Stags Leap Heaven. Vineyard is dry farmed, vines really struggle producing tiny yields of small berry grapes resulting in wines with huge extraction and concentration.
Tasting Notes: The color is a high-gloss, deep, ruby-tinged purple, nearly opaque at its core. Dense and intense aromas escape the glass, and elicit an immediate Pavlovian response with suggestions of ripe plums and blueberries. But oh, there is so much more: a blast of wild fennel, a dash of vanilla, a touch of violet! The aromas find substance with a sip, resplendent on the luxurious, high thread count texture woven Impressive structure underpins the flavors, inviting culinary suitors and hinting of the possibilities of a long-term relationship, at least until the end of dinner. Shockingly delicious. Impossible to stop at one glass.
Cellartracker huge average of 91 pts.
Tasted by on 10/22/2011 & rated 94 points: What an outstanding Meritage. Lots of dark berries and sweet fruit. Smooth, balanced and fairly complex with a great finish. I will definitely seek out in the future. (723 views)
Tasted by on 11/17/2011: Pop and pour and this is on fire. Rich blackberry immediately, pronounced aromas. An iron side to the palate, but along side richness of fruit to not seem to up front. Again, how small are these berries? Buy, buy, buy. Again $37 and so worth it.
