Red Wine Hand-Picked 90 Pts RP r Tasting Notes: In 2007, the highlights include the delicious, fruit-driven, tasty 2007 Vacqueyras Vieux Clocher, which exhibits plenty of kirsch, Provencal herbs, and pepper. It should drink well for 3-4 years. All these 2007s merit serious attention.

Tasting Notes: The 2009 Vacqueyras Seigneur de Lauris (70% Grenache and 30% Syrah aged 6 months in foudre and one-third new oak) reveals more structure as one might expect from the smaller barrels. It offers a deep purple color, lots of black currant, black cherry, licorice and spice box notes, full body, and a fleshy style. It is another typical 2009 Vacqueyras ... big, dense, tannic and massive. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.

This year there is huge demand for the spectacular Southern Rhone's from 2010. The great wines from the Southern Rhone are the Chateauneuf du Papes and people in the know are clamoring/lining up for the best Chateauneufs from this incredible vintage. Parker himself tastes the Southern Rhone and he has declared 2010 a GREAT VINTAGE with some producers commenting that their 2010's will eclipse their 2007's. Parker comments that, I can't remember a vintage so concentrated, powerful and rich...Weather conditions were near perfect. The 2010's will have significant aging potential, they have excellent tannic structures. The tannins however are sweet, supple with exceptional elegance and finesse. The Southern Rhone is offering an embarrassment of riches and more and more wine lovers are beating down the door to get these outstanding wines. There is one massive problem with this great vintage. The crop was very small, 30 to 40% of all Grenache grapes were lost, the dominant grape varietal in the Southern Rhone. This was due to a viticulture problem, the French call coulure and millerandage which results in uneven berry size and different levels of grape maturity. If in a normal year let say 1000 cases of a wine are made, in 2010 only 500 to 700 cases were made. Availability of these great wines is going to be a definite problem.Domaine Brusset are top four producer in Gigondas, an Appelation not as famous as Chateauneuf du Pape but the best are every bit as good but at a much lower price. This important domaine has vineyards spread throughout the southern Rhone, primarily in Gigondas and its neighboring villages. Domaine Brusset was among the first estates to introduce small barrels (barriques) for aging their top cuvee, the old vine Les Hauts de Montmirail. After an extravagant use of wood in the early days, they have gotten the marriage between wood and fruit to a nearly ideal point. We have three of their finest wines in the 2010 vintage that have got massive scores at low prices. This is a Pre-Sell.
Tasting Notes: Domaine Brusset’s Cairannes are both beautiful wines as well as outstanding bargain . Even deeper-colored, richer, and longer, the 200 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cairanne is a beautifully made, full-bodied, spicy, peppery, garrigue-laced effort with outstanding purity and depth.

PRE-SELL DELIVERY SPRING

Pre-Sell Red Wine Hand-Picked 95 Pts RP r Tasting Notes: The stunning 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes (from 80-100+ year old vines) gives some credibility to the vignerons’ arguments that in the drought-stricken 2009 growing season, the northern Chateauneuf du Pape parcels were less impacted than those in the south. Domaine La Milliere’s vineyards are all in the northern sector. The deep ruby/purple-hued 2009 possesses abundant blackberry, black cherry and cassis fruit intermixed with notions of camphor, truffles, garrigue and licorice. Dense, thick and rich, it is potentially one of the few 2009 Chateauneuf du Papes that will eclipse its 2007 counterpart. An opulent, voluptuous texture, long finish and heady combination of herbs and super-concentrated fruit make for a wine that can be drunk upon release or cellared for 12-15 years.

Delivery End Of Year, Oct., Nov.

This is Vatican’s special luxury Cuvee and where the Diffonty family only normally make about 2000 cases of this, in 2010 this is way down. The fruit is sourced from the finest vineyards from the family’s major holdings in La Crau (clay and rocky soils), the Rayas terroir (Pure sand) and the Barbe d’Asne (clay soils). The Diffonty’s are among the oldest estate bottles in Chateauneuf and are legends of the Appellation. Parker sais the 2010’s are one of the finest vintages the Diffonty family has yet made. This wine is absolutely stunning combining power with finesse, superb dark fruits, smoky plum and black currants and like all great Rhone’s will drink superbly young but with this pedigree can be enjoyed over the next twenty years. Because of the small size of the vintage and the insane quality, this wine is being sold on a pre-sell. Very little or no wine will be available on release and certainly at higher prices.

Tasting Notes: The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Sixtine is a behemoth. Made from a blend similar to the 2009's ( a blend of 45% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 25% Mourvedre) , the 2010 exhibits an opaque purple color in addition to a beautiful nose of melted licorice, blackberries, cassis, smoky barbecue embers, underbrush and soil overtones. Rich and full-bodied with a multilayered mouthfeel, this impressive, pure. PRE-SELL APRIL DELIVERY

Red Wine Hand-Picked 95 Pts RP r Pre-Sell - Delivery will be Spring/Summer later this year
Tasting Notes: The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes is 84% Grenache and equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre from 80- to 90-year-old vines on pure limestone overlaid with the famed rocks the locals call galets roules. It is aged half in large wood foudres and the other half in 600-litre demi-miuds. This wine may turn out to be their best since their debut release of this cuvee in 1990. Full-bodied, with notes of kirsch, incense, black currant, cassis, plum, fig, and roasted Provencal herbs as well as some meaty juices, the wine is layered, dense, sexy, decadently rich and powerful, but incredibly well-balanced because of the freshness of the fruit in this vintage. This wine should age magnificently for 20+ years..

Sadly, as with most of the worlds most majestic wines, production is relatively limited, and the demand is insatiable.”Robert Parker
Over the past decade Jean-Paul Daumen has emerged as one of the most compelling winemakers in all of France. Taking advantage of his ancient vines in the Northern sector of Chateauneuf, and biodynamically farming the entire vineyard, he has produced extraordinary wines dating back to 1998 that have massive acclaim for the world’s most respected critics. Average age of vines are 60 years. His winemaking philosophy is quite simple- old vines, tiny yields, no SO2 during vinification, neutral or tank and no fining or filtration. His wines are benchmarks from the appellation. He only releases his wines when he feels they are ready. Until 2001 This cuvee was marked as VV.

Spectator: “Very ripe, but focused and pure, with a gorgeous core of crushed plum, pastis and raspberry ganache notes stitched together with long, velvety tannins. Spice, fruitcake and melted licorice notes echo through the superlong finish. Drink now through 2020”

Parker: “While the beautiful 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is already accessible, it will benefit from 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades or more. It exhibits an inky/ruby/purple color, a great texture, and a gorgeous nose of boysenberries, blueberries, blackberries, acacia flowers, licorice, and incense. There is wonderful freshness and vibrancy (because of the good acids) as well as a terrific finish. Jean-Paul Dauman is one of a handful of Chateauneuf du Pape proprietors who believes his 2005s are better than what he produced in 2007, and I find it difficult to disagree relative to this estate's wines. True lovers of Chateauneuf du Pape will probably want to have both vintages in their cellars. 94 Pts Wine Spectator 95 pts Parker;94 pts Spectator
Pre Sell Arriving in July Selling for as high as $115 a bottle.

Tasting Notes: “I can not recommend these wines highly enough. It is fabulously rich, expansive, glorious pure, full-bodied, long, and deep. Sweetness from high glycerin and rich fruit nearly conceals some formidable tannins in the finish. This wine should evolve and last for over two decades.”

Spectator: “Showing beautifully, with intense fig, black currant and boysenberry fruit and dark chocolate, date bread, spice and mineral notes. This is both powerful and pure at the same time, with a superlong finish. Seriously structured. Drink now through 2030.” 94 Pts Wine Spectator 95 pts Parker;94 pts Spectator
Pre Sell Arriving in July Selling for as high as $115 a bottle.

Tasting Notes: “I can not recommend these wines highly enough.
