A burst of dark red berries is followed by leather, licorice and spices. Bright red. Fresh notes of sassafras and orange peel complicate red cherry and strawberry aromas. Enters the mouth sweet and smooth, with syrupy red berry flavors complicated by intriguing nuances of peach and candied orange peel. Finishes satisfying, pure and long. Always one of the most enjoyable and well-made examples of Morellino di Scansano.

Red Wine Hand-Picked 93 Pts Wine Spectator The 2006 vintage in Tuscany was a warm and sunny year but slightly cooler than traditional top years, so the prolonged maturation cycle for the grapes greatly benefited the hilly vineyards of Chianti Classico, especially Greve native Sangiovese di Lamole which makes up the majority of this awesome 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva, along with 5% input from Merlot.<br><br><b>Tasting Notes:</b> Fabulous aromas of blackberry, dark chocolate and flowers follow through to a full-bodied palate, with supersilky tannins and amazing richness and subtlety. Goes on for minutes on the palate. Best from 2010 through 2015. 2,345 cases made.

Chosen by the Chianti Consortium as the best of the vintage.<br><br>This has a gorgeous, warm nose that desperately wants to embrace you: red cherries, raspberry, woodland and a touch of cedar. Superb delineation. The palate has a subtle, smooth sensuous entry with fine tannins, smooth texture with notes of maraschino cherries, redcurrants with a touch of soy.
