Red Wine Hand-Picked 98 Pts RP r I have been tasting and reading all about the 2009 vintage for Spain and the vintage is superb. The vintage is a buy. It rivals the best in modern times. The wines are rich with superb concentration, glorious fruit, opulent with integrated tannins. The wines are very much like 2009 Bordeaux in style. From Parkers Wine Advocate, There is considerable excitement in Spain these days. The 2009 vintage will probably be the best ever for most producers. I have just secured an allocation of one of the greatest wines made in Spain actually all of Europe. The wine is the 2009 Clos Mogador. This is one of the key wines being released from this great vintage. Mogador is one of the most collected and prized wines made in Spain. Priorat has proven itself to make some of the finest big red wine in the world. This wine is at the pinnacle of great big reds. The wine has become as famous as other mythical wines of the world such as Italy’s Sassicaia and Bordeaux’s Chateau Margaux. Clos Mogador rivals Clos Erasmus at a far more reasonable price. Erasmus in 2009 is going for $700 a bottle. Mogador is brought to us by the famous Rene Barbier, one of the founding fathers of Priorat. The wine balances the power and massive structure typical of Priorat with an elegance and finesse that belies its aging potential.

Tasting Notes: This wine will increase in value and is a definite collector piece. The wine will be delivered in the fall. The 2009 Clos Mogador was tasted from a barrel sample. Asian spices, tapenade, incense, licorice, espresso, and blackberry aromas inform the nose of this structured, dense plush, powerful yet elegant offering. It is beautifully proportioned with exceptional length and incipient complexity. Give it 4-5 years of cellaring and drink it from 2015 to 2029.
