Tasting Notes: Proprietor Giuseppe Gorelli produces wines of impeccable quality with distinctive personally and breed on a very small scale. They are extremely balanced, featuring elegant, high-toned, ruby-red fruits, a rich, almost brooding underlying structure, and smooth, velvety tannins. Le Potazzine is located in the southwestern part of Montalcino area, a region known fro intense and powerful Brunell. The 1997 vintage was given 96 points by Robert Parker, but that was just the beginning of the winery’s commendations. The 2001 Brunello got 93 points from both Spectator and Tanzer, and the 2003 faired well too. The Wine Advocate. The estate’s Rosso di Montalcino is one of the finest that we offer, and though delicious now, will drink well for several years to come, displaying concentration and aromatics worthy of Brunello .The Wine Advocate has described it as always, a fine source of good Sangiovese at gentler prices. This is truly a darling of a winery, still owned and run by a family whose origins in Montalcino date back centuries.
