Red Wine Hand-Picked
90 Pts RP r 90 pts Parker </font
We love the QPR. The quality to price pyramid in Spain is second to none.Choose any place in the price pyramid, at the base for every day wines, or tapering to its apex for cellar quality wines, and you will find the wines of Spain offer unprecedented value. Specifically, we felt that Paramo de Corcos drinked up significantly in price... that when we compared it to other wines, Paramo tasted like a wine that would be in the $35 to $45 range. Artisanal Estate. Paramo de Corcos is the project of a family that has been involved in the wine world going back to the 17th century. Well before the creation of Ribera del Duero as a D.O., the family's wines won international accolades. The vineyards sit on a plateau at 950 meters in a climate known for severe winters and hot summers with little rainfall. The soil composition consists of sandy loam with a deep layer of clay. The pebbly top surface is important for retaining heat when the temperature drops precipitously in the night. Careful vineyard management is continued in the cellar where each vineyard parcel is vinified separately to take advantage of its unique characteristics. A Fall Red if ever there was one. Extraordinary quality at the price.

Tasting Notes:The 2007 Roble spent 5 months in French and American oak. Fragrant spices, an earthy minerality, and briery black fruits inform the nose of this sweetly-fruited, layered, succulent offering.

Dark ruby. Dark berries and cherry-cola on the pungent nose, with notes of vanillin oak and herbs adding complexity. Sappy and pliant in texture, with nicely concentrated cherry and blackberry flavors picking up a smoky quality with air. The very smooth finish features soft tannins and attractive spiciness. This is drinking well now. 100% Tempranillo (called Tinto Fino in Ribera del Duero) and aged 6 months in American barrels to provide a balance between oak and freshness of the fruit. Exceptionally ripe flavours of black cherry tinged with vanilla shine in both the bouquet and palate.
