Tasting Notes: We all know how great Palomero is! One of the iconoic wines coming from Ribera del Duero rivalling the finest the world has to offer. The wine is tremendous and is priced over $100 a bottle. I have great news. For the first time Palomero has come out with another bottling that is a third of the price and is souced from the same vineyards. I loved it so much that I took it all. The wine is every bit as good as the regular bottling but at a third of the price and spends a shorter time in oak 12 months which quite honestly is plenty. Exhibits a flamboyant nose of hard wood charcoal, spice box, vanilla, mineral, leather, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied, intense, and layered with flavor, it has enough structure for 6-8 years of positive evolution, and a beautifully delineated, very long, firm finish.
