This beautiful Cabernet announces its Stag’s Leap heritage with its distinctive aromatic profile of milk chocolate, cherry licorice, sweet plums, vanilla and dried tobacco leaves. The wine is even more clearly Stag’s Leap on the palate, where rich flavors of red cherry, red currant and milk chocolate rise on a delightfully supple, palate-coating wave. The finish is long and already extremely satisfying and the tannins are buried under layers of mocha and Cassis. Certain to improve for a few years, this one is so attractive now as to make waiting seem pointless.

Winemakers Notes: The 2007 Vintage of the Malk Family Vineyards is likely our best effort to date. We find deeper notes of blackberry and black cherry in the 2007, along with the rich current and ripe red fruit we’ve enjoyed in previous vintages. The fruit aromas are highlighted with warm spicy notes that follow through to the palate giving way to the classic silky mouth feel we have come to expect. This vintage does offer a bit more extraction and body and should age well for many years.
