Tasting Notes :TEach year, Lindstrom Wines produces a single, estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, using a selection of the very finest grapes from our four acre hilltop Nicali Vineyard in the heart of Stags Leap District. A true artisan wine, handmade by acclaimed winemaker Celia Welch Masyczek, this limited bottling is carefully crafted in small lots and specially blended to express the unique characteristics of each vintage. The result is a great Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon reflecting the essence of the terroir of our meticulously hand-farmed Vineyard with its distinctive tapestry of 11 separate vineyard blocks. Very ripe, dark berry aromas come forward first; dark raspberries, fragrant boysenberries, warm ripe berries-in-the-briars aromas. These are supported by a few high notes of cedar, brown cigar-tobacco, and a subtle wafts of anise. On the palate, the wine is bright and fresh with black cherry/raspberry syrup flavors, and a dense, soft, mouth-coating texture carries the wine through the mid-palate. The finish is equally rich, with a few light notes of chocolate and vanilla adding layers of complexity to the berry/black fruit flavors. Though unmistakably Stags Leap District in its texture, this wine’s structure also displays the intense color, aroma, and flavor density which is appropriately derived from its steep, rocky hillside origins.
