Red Wine Hand-Picked 93 Pts WE <b>Tasting Notes:</b> Aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, and fresh black and white pepper are wrapped in dark baking chocolate and spices on the nose and translate through to the palate. A solid tannin structure integrates throughout but does not overpower this nearly full bodied dark and brooding Zin. With generous complexity and red fruit concentration the long finish is enhanced by barrel spice, vanilla and coconut notes imparted by the American Oak used to age this wine. Recommended drinking time is three to five years from vintage with a maximum suggested aging time of eight to ten years from vintage. We also recommend decanting this wine for about an hour prior to drinking.

This wine displays beautiful black cherry and plum-like fruit, with a gorgeous nose of nori (the seaweed wrappers used in sushi restaurants) intermixed with pepper, lavender, and spice. Very Provencal and full-bodied, with beautiful fruit purity and stunning density and personality, it should drink well for 10-12 years.

It is aged half in large wood foudres and the other half in 600-litre demi-miuds. This wine may turn out to be their best since their debut release of this cuvee in 1990. Full-bodied, with notes of kirsch, incense, black currant, cassis, plum, fig, and roasted Provencal herbs as well as some meaty juices, the wine is layered, dense, sexy, decadently rich and powerful, but incredibly well-balanced because of the freshness of the fruit in this vintage. Black purple in color with a nose of hot stones, ground pepper, roasted meats, garrigue, and intense cassis and blackberry fruit, the wine is very full-bodied, incredibly pure, stunningly rich, and a profound example of Chateauneuf du Pape at its best. The acidity gives it a certain freshness, and the purity of fruit, something so characteristic of the finest wines of 2007, is on vivid display. This is a prodigious wine of great personality and singular quality. It should drink well for at least 20+ years.
