Tasting Notes: From the high elevation slopes of Montalcino in the same neighborhood as legendary Biondi Santi’s Il Greppo,vineyard sits at 500-600 meters in elevation, hard by where the zone rises to its highest point near the center, at Poggio Civitella. Soils strongly marked by galestro and its heat retaining schist. Warm Mediterranean climate is cooled by the region's altitude, allowing intense luminosity to gradually ripen the grapes. Pretty and balanced with tobacco, berry, flowers and cherries, full to medium in body, chewy tannins deliver an abundance of ripe fruit. Its raisins and sultanas go on and on. The wine is certainly age-worthy, characteristic of the great year. Yet, like so many great vintages of Brunello di Montalcino, the beauty of the fruit is evident at the moment allowing early enjoyment in addition to potential greatness into the next 20 months and beyond.
