Thomas Road Vineyard is located at the northeastern part of the Green Valley. Planted to clone Dijon 115 in 1997, this vineyard produces wine of dark berries with a bold firm mouth-feel. The vines planted on the rockier Sebastopol type soil historically produce wines of this consistent character. This fearless wine is defined as the “Big Brother” of our pinot noirs. Lovely aroma of fresh cherry tart. Red cherry and berry fruit is front and center with a touch of earthiness. Very supple in the mouth with well-concealed tannins and impeccable balance. More finesse and less persistence than the Karmen Isabella bottling, but very satisfying in its own right. Cellartracker average score 93.3 pts 95 points Wine Enthuisast: "Beautiful. Really impresses for its power and elegance, but way too young. We’re entering a new era where some Pinots require cellaring and this is one of them. It’s all acidity, oak and primary fruit now, but with such a nuclear concentration of cherries, raspberries and pomegranates that it will easily develop. Could be something special by 2012." (11/09) The Thomas Road Vineyard is located in the northeastern portion of the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River. The soils are rockier than other parts of the valley, which contributes to this wine's bigger character. Earthy, mushroomy qualities on the nose complement the dark red fruit that continues onto the palate. The wine's silky mouthfeel, well-integrated tannins and bright acidity mean this powerful wine tastes great today, and will evolve gracefully in your cellar for years to come.
