90 Pts ST Tasting Notes:Dominique Laurent is one of the great producers in Burgundy today. His wines are highly sought after and very hard to get. He is famous for superb depth and intensity.

Deep red. Crunchy red and black fruits on the rather explosive nose. Fat, creamy and sweet, with very good density for village wine. Carrying plenty of slightly tough Nuits tannins but appears to have the stuffing to support them. This wine has a track record for turning out well in bottle.

Once a pastry cook in Vesoul, Dominique Laurent admitted his passion for wine in 1987, and set up as a wine merchant in Nuits-Saint-Georges. His philosophy? decanting, minimum sulphur and bottling without fining or filtering also a true quest for concentration.

90 Pts Wine Spectator 90 Points Wine Spectator, Smart Buy
The Day Of The Super Abruzzi Is Here
90 Point 2004 Talamonti Kudos From Banfi’s Winemaker
Did he say Super Abruzzi? That’s right. When Italy initiated its Agriturismo government subsidies in 1999 to support small farms and rural areas, the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo region was one of its greatest beneficiaries. The two dollars from the government for every one dollar privately invested has brought a host of money and winemaking talent to the DOC as international varieties such as Cab and Merlot have also been planted and grown over the last decade plus. A wine growing region for centuries, Abruzzo is vast, stretching from the Adriatic, ending at the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountain ranges. But the premier grape growing terroir is right along the central coast with its mild climate perfect for growing grapes for signature wine Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. It is there we found 2004 Cantine Talamonti Colline Pescaresi Kudos. 70% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, 30% Merlot, intensely red-ruby in colour, its bouquet is one of ripe plums with hints of violets, coffee and vanilla. This full-bodied wine, delivers chocolate and berry flavours on palate with well-integrated, cashmere tannins and a long finish.and complex, layered and elegant. Silkiness is becoming part of the tasting notes as Wine Spectator’s 90 points said best after 2009. We find Kudos drinking superbly and cellaring for another eight years will only increase enjoyment, which is at a very high level now.
Winemaker Lucio Matricardi is barely forty but has Italy’s Castello Banfi on his resume. His doctorate from University of California at Davis, the cradle of education for so many great winemakers, is in evidence with this beautiful blending of Montepulciano and Merlot. The lush ripeness Merlot provides is the perfect counter to the dark, fullness of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Talamonti’s vineyards sit 350 meters above sea level, planted in deep, calcareous, stony, well drained soils, located near the village of Loreto Aprutino, just a half-hour inland. This is an incredible level of quality and our price of $26.99 gives you access to an entirely new category of excellence. This wine is a statement for the entire region’s emerging to another level. The day of the Super Abruzzis has arrived.

Tasting Notes: Ripe plums, with hints of violets, coffee and vanilla. Full-bodied, with fine, well-integrated tannins, chocolate and berry flavors and a long, tight finish. Best after 2009. The two varieties are hand harvested separately in early October for best ripening and vinified separately with 15-22 days of maceration. Subsequently the wines are individually aged in 300-litre French barriques from Troncais and Allier for 12 months. At this point the wines are blended and further aged for 12 months in 300 litre French barriques and 12 months of bottle rest follow. Drinkable today, Kudos will age well for the next 10 years. Perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

CHATEAU PARADIS TARDIEU TERRE DES ANGES 2009
sku # 2985589
Red Wine Hand-Picked
90 Pts RP r 90+pts Parker
Chateau Paradis Is Wine Paradise
Blockbuster Red Made By Michel Tardieu

The last vintage of this wine flew out of here. I went to a dinner tasting focusing on Bordeaux and the wines were awesome. There was one wine however that was not from Bordeaux and I could not wait to try it. The wine was the 2009 Chateau Paradis. We had managed to get some of the wine in the 2007 vintage and our customers have been begging us for more ever since. I tasted the wine the wine before all the fifty to one hundred dollar Bordeaux’s. Before it was delicious, rich and concentrated with copious amounts of fruit, a killer bouquet of new wood, black fruits and provencal herbs but what realy showed me the pedigree of the wine is when I re-tasted the wines after the Bordeaux and it shone through superbly showing it’s class, intensity and purity. Many wines after the big boys, taste flat or water-like. Not Paradis, it was even better. I was blown away! The 2009 is even better than the 2007. 2009 is one of the great vintages throughout France and this wine show’s it. Chateau Paradis is found in a region called Coteaux d’Aix which is just below the Southerm Rhone entering in Provence. Not rated yet but a perennial 90+ pts by Parkers WA. Age of vines are 40 years plus. The compostion of Chateau Paradis’ soil is very similar to the finest in Chateauneuf du Pape, chalky slopes, clay sands and full of pebbles. This means the roots have to dig deep to get to water and all the nutrients in the soil adds to the complexity of the wine. What makes this wine different to Chateauneuf du Pape is that 50% of the blend is Cabernet Sauvignon. This makes the wine bigger and fuller and adds more currant, black fruits and dark chocolate to the wine. The balance is Grenache and Syrah adding opulence and accessibility.
The blend is very similar to the great Priorat’s from Spain that we all love to drink. Same kind of blend as a Mogador and as delicious.
Another huge reason the wine is so good is that is made from one of the winemaker masters from France, Michel Tardieu who is famous for his Tardieu Laurent Wines from the Rhone. The style of Paradis is the same, big and rich, new oak and voluptuous. The result is a big rich red, aged in small French oak that has that huge appeal. I have recommended that all the wine advisors offer this to all customers who are purchasing in this price range and I am recommending the same to you. If you are looking for an insane red in the mid-twenty’s a bottle, you must get this wine!

The 2009 Coteaux d’Aix Paradis is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Grenache, and its dense purple hue is accompanied by a sumptuous bouquet of sweet new oak, blackberry liqueur, espresso, and a hint of spice box. This wine possesses amazing concentration, full-bodied richness, and a wallop of toasty, smoky wood. It should age effortlessly for 10-15 years.
