This wine is an absolute steal for the quality. Pierre Morey was the winemaker for the DRC of white wines Domaine Leflaive for over twenty years up until last year when he was forced to retire by French law at 65. This wine is from his Domaine selections as opposed to his Negociant wines called M Morey. This wine is absolutely stunning at the price. His Domaine white Premier Cru's sell for well over a hundred dollars a bottle.
The Bourgogne Aligoté is notably fruity, supported by good acidity with elegance and charm. This wine is a good accompaniment to sausage, shellfish and seafood, or served as an apéritif.
Considered one of Burgundy’s most highly regarded winemakers, Pierre Morey’s small domaine of nearly 10 hectares (25 acres) produces stunning, long-lived wines. He served as winemaker/cellarmaster at Domaine Leflaive for nearly 20 years before stepping down in 2008 to concentrate on his family's domaine and his négociant firm, Morey-Blanc, both of which he runs with his daughter, Anne. Morey-Blanc complements his estate production with an enviable selection of premier and grand cru vineyards.
"Whether they come from his own domaine, from his activity as négociant négociant or from Domaine Leflaive, his touch is sure, and his wines are masterpieces from their respective appellations."
