A Cotes du Rhone Villages AOC since 1969, the terraced slopes of slate, limestone-clay, siliceous schist soils of Domaine La Bouvade hold vineyards of 45 years average age with some plants almost 100 years old. Moderate de-stemming and use of stainless with temperature control. Grape varieties and parcels are vinified separately. Bouquet of black currants, boysenberries, licorice, kirsch liqueur and spice lead to a palate of blackberry, pepper and crème de cassis with multiple layers and freshness provided by beautiful Grenache fruit of such massive depth that this has an almost Chateauneuf du Pape quality to it.
