DOMAINE DELARCHE ALOX CORTON

Red Wine Hand-Picked
92 Pts Wine Spectator 92pts Wine Spectator
2009 Red Burgundy Are What Legends Are Made Of
The Second Highest Rated Vintage Ever By Parker For Red Burgundy

Whenever any of the leading wine publications list which are the best producers in the Alox Corton commune in Burgundy. The Domaine of Marius Delarche is always mentioned as one of the best and I have secured his glorious 2009 Domaine Delarche Alox Corton for our customers. If you love Pinot Noir and we have found the grape to be more popular than ever, you have to get into Burgundy and with the exceptional 2009 vintage this your chance. The vintage is spectacular, Parkers second highest rated ever since 1970. History is on the vintages side. The vintages on the nines have produced some memorable vintages - years like 1999, 1989, 1969, 1959 and 1949. I have been in this business my whole working life and have developed relationships with some of the hardest to get, finest quality, smaller Domaines out there. Burgundy production is minute and the best in a great vintage are rare. The tiny Domaine of Delarche is run today by Philippe and Etienne Delarche. The Domaine consists of fewer than 20 acres. Their vines average more than fifty years of age. They make some of the finest wine in the villages of Alox Corton and neighboring Pernand Vergelesses. They have crafted this superb red emphasizing purity of flavors and aromas. Bruce Sanderson of the Wine Spectator rated the wine 92pts. We can offer you the wine for $49.99 per bottle by the case which is a great buy for Red Burgundy of such quality in such a great vintage. I must emphasize that just about all quality from this vintage is sold out. There was huge demand for the 2009 vintage. Only 450 cases made. If you love Pinot Noir, go to the fountain head, experience the best.

Tasting Notes:Spectator: This beauty has stunning fruit quality and texture for this level. Raspberry, cherry, spice and wet earth aromas and flavors mingle as a firm structure provides support. This is balanced, and lingers with earth and a hint of mineral accents. Best from 2013 through 2020. 450 cases made. —Bruce Sanderson

SANDHI RITA'S CROWN CHARDONNAY 2010
sku # 2478943
White Wine Hand-Picked
92 Pts Wine Spectator 92 pts Spectator
This intense white shows a rich, vibrant, concentrated core of citrus-laced green apple and green pineapple flavors. This is refreshing, clean and snappy, ending with a lift that lingers. Drink now through 2020.—J.L.
This has been one of the most anticipated new wine projects to come out of California's Central Coast in a long time. I had heard about this great collaboration about a year ago at a huge Pinot Tasting in NYC last year and have been patiently awaiting some availability for our customers. The word Sandhi means 'collaboration' in Sanskrit and is a joint project between three wine VIP's. The first, Charles Banks who with a partner in 2006 purchased Screaming Eagle, the ultimate Cult Napa Cabernet. In 2000 he purchased a cattle ranch in Santa Barbara which became Jonata, Andy Erickson winemaker at Screaming Eagle was hired as consultant and Matt Dees was hired as winemaker. Jonata exploded onto the scene in 2005 scoring 95-97 pts and by 2007 scoring 97-100 points. He is also involved in other Erickson ventures such as Leviathan, a wine we showcased recently as well interests in South Africa, a partner in the great Mulderbosch there. Next is Rajat Parr one of the greatest Sommeliers in the US today, apprenticing under master sommeliers, Larry Stone at Rubicon in San Francisco where he developed an appreciation for great Burgundy. He then moved to Fifth Floor in San Francisco which after two years earned a Grand Award from Wine Spectator. In 2003, Parr was named wine director for the Mina Restaurant Group which own about fifteen of the finest Restaurants in the US. He has become familiar with many of California's greatest wines, he is a master of food and wine, hosting seminars and leading panel discussions at several of the country's most prestigious food and wine gatherings. His new book, Secrets of the Sommeliers, chronicles his experiences. Lastly we have Winemaker Sashi Moorman. Sashi started on the food side working in NYC and DC. In 1996 he started a five-year apprenticeship with Adam Tolmach and The Ojai Vineyard. In 2001 he joined Stolpman Vineyards who make some of the best wine in the cebtral Coast and later adding Evening Land who makes some of the greatest Pinot Noir's in the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Barbara County. The Sandhi Winery is focusing on the finest of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They want there wines to be about finesse, subtle, nuanced and sublime, they have focused on higher elevation vineyards to add minerality and concentration. Elegance and purity is key using a minimalist approach, making wines of spectacular balance expressing the terroir of each vineyard.

This is our first bottling from this promising site that is planted at the highest elevation in the region, hence the “Crown of Santa Rita”. Planted at 500 to 1000 feet, Rita’s Crown is planted on diatomaceous soils, which are fossilized seashells and hallmarks of the appellation. This soil creates a mineral thread in the wines while adding more stress to the vines concentrating the fruit flavors. Please click here to see what this soil looks like and a picture of the vineyard. Our sections are south facing receiving ample sun providing slightly riper and juicier fruit. In our opinion, this is the blockbuster white of the spring line-?up with solid structure and persistence.
