Tasting Notes: Chionetti Dolcetto showcases spicy and gripping red fruit with subtle hints of bitter chocolate that exude intense layers of flavor. Nuances of currant, ripe juicy strawberries and bright cherry’s give way to extremely firm tannins that leave a long lingering finish. While most dolcetto is meant to be drunk within 1-2 years, this can easily be enjoyed for another 3-5 years. It’s deliciously versatile for pairing foods including antipasti, and grilled meats. Chionetti has built a reputation on making Dolcetto with extreme structure and depth which is why we find this wine to be so superb. Parker: The 2009 Dolcetto di Dogliani San Luigi flows onto the palate with layers of gorgeous, ripe fruit. Violets, flowers and spices develop in the glass, but the San Luigi remains a soft, fruit-driven Dolcetto loaded with class and elegance.
