What A Vintage! Wow What A Wine
have finally been blessed with a great vintage for Red Burgundy, the most
collected , the most expensive and the greatest wine experience on the planet.
. If you have not experienced great Burgundy, you have not experienced great
wine and the 2015 vintage is a must. The vintage is being hailed as great as
2005. Today I have one of the great all-rounders I have ever experienced in red
Red Burgundy has greatness written all over it. Finally mother nature has
shined on Burgundy, the world’s greatest wine region and the home to the
world’s most expensive and hardest to get wine master pieces. Parker’s WA
has just come out stamping the greatness of the vintage, “Make no
mistake, 2015 Burgundy is a great vintage.” Prices will definitely go up and
it’s just a question of how much.
Experts Chime In:
“Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons
with the outstanding 2005 vintage.”
“Let’s say that it is at least possible that the 2015 vintage in the Côte
d’Or will be a very great one. The fruit is more concentrated than in 2009
thanks to a smaller harvest; berry and juice tastings suggest more ripeness
than in 2010 and 2012, though not necessarily less freshness. Start saving
“Michel Lafarge reported that he has rarely seen such magnificent
grapes, and his comments have been echoed by others.”
“I have never tasted anything like the very best 2015s and if they keep the
ultimate freshness until after bottling these wines could be among some of the
best Burgundies produced in my time.”
“2005 might be the most apt comparison for 2015. But nowadays most of
Burgundy’s winemakers are far more flexible in their winemaking and élevage. I
suspect that the 2015s will evolve more gracefully than the ’05s.”
Devauges of Clos du Tart, “Sorting tables in the Côte d’Or were almost superfluous
in 2015, something which is unthinkable after most harvests. The clusters I
looked at were tight, closely packed but strikingly healthy, with thick skins.”
wines hails from my favorite boutique Domaine in the Cote de Nuit. We had not
seen their wines for three years until we were able to get a small allocation
of 2014 which sold through fast. I hope some of you got some, to get an idea
how great the wines are because in 2015 they are absolutely mind blowing.
Production and availability in Burgundy has become a huge problem with small
harvests dominating, tiny yields and over one year of a normal harvest has been

Domaine Marchand Freres has been in Morey St Denis for seven generations
and is now in the capable hands of Jean Philippe and Denis Marchand. They are
one of my all-time favorite producers in the Cote de Nuit, home to the greatest
Pinot Noir in the world. I have visited Domaine Marchand Freres on two
occasions and see Denis Marchand on his visits to New York. Their wines are
sexy, rich, polished, opulent, silky and velvety. Some of the finest reds in
the Cote du Nuit.
1983 they have been based in Gevrey Chambertin. Their total production for
all their wines is under 1000 cases. Marchand Freres is the quintessential
Burgundy domain: small production, high quality.
I bring you their great all-rounder, insane quality, as good as many
$100 bottles, a great value that has received great press in the past and in
the last top vintage 2010 absolutely blew all our customers away. The wine is

Roasted spice, oozing blackberry fruit, silky textured on the palate with meaty
