Tasting Notes: The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, which comes from 45- to 50-year-old vines and is a blend of 75% Grenache, 12% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, and the rest Vaccarese, Counoise, and Cinsault, is aged in foudres, tank, and 600-litre demi-muids. This wine displays beautiful black cherry and plum-like fruit, with a gorgeous nose of nori (the seaweed wrappers used in sushi restaurants) intermixed with pepper, lavender, and spice. Very Provencal and full-bodied, with beautiful fruit purity and stunning density and personality, it should drink well for 10-12 years.
