Tasting Notes: Two luxury cuvees include the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee du Quet (a perfect wine in 2007 and not far off that mark in 2009). A blend of 80% tank-aged Grenache and 20% small barrel-aged Mourvedre, it is a super-concentrated wine with layer upon layer of rich blackberry and kirsch notes intermixed with charcoal, incense, truffles and lavender. Very full-bodied with silky tannins, a multilayered mouthfeel as well as a stunning 40+ second finish, this killer Chateauneuf du Pape is one of the vintage’s great stars. It should drink well for two decades.The brother and sister team of Daniel and Christine Chaussy has been on top of its game for many years. Their greatest wines to date, the 2007s, have been followed by brilliant performances in 2009 as well as the excellent Chateauneuf du Papes made in the challenging 2008 vintage.
