A Spectacular Red For The Money
Ranked 26 On Wine Spectator Top 100
The wine from Spain’s Ribera del Duero are some of the greatest big red wines being made today. Icons like Vega Sicilia come from this region and some of the most exciting wines like Aalto have made Ribera one of the go to places when looking for Big Reds. The best from the region are Pricey and they should be but once in a while we get a stunner, a wine that rivals the quality of the best at a fraction of the price. I have tasted all the greats from Ribera and the 2005 Bodegas Resalte de Penafiel Crianza rivals the absolute best. The wine got a monster score of 94 pts by Wine Spectator. Other wines that got this score are selling at $50 to $100 a bottle. We can offer you the wine at $29.99 and I can not stress it enough that this is a remarkaeble wine at this price. Perfect for the fall, drinking to perfection and oh so delicious. Reslate like many of this regions Wineries was founded pretty recently in 2000 and the Wineries goal was to make the finest red wine coming out of the competitive region. No expense was spared and only the very latest technology is utilized to make the absolute finest wines possible. The wine is 100% Tempranillo, aged for 15 months in predominately French oak. This wine was the Top Spanish in the Wine Spectator for 2010. If you love Napa Cabs, Brunello and Bordeaux, this wine will blow you away at the price in fact at any price.
Tasting Notes: Vivid cherry-red color, high robe, clean and bright. • The nose is complex, intense fruit aromas of ripe red and blackberries but without losing freshness. • The palate shows good acidity, smooth yet powerful, meaty and balanced, fruit aromas are well balanced with wood, candied fruit aromas appear in aftertaste, licorice and roasted coffee makes the finish very long and persistent. "Fresh and focused, this firm red delivers ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit, backed by espresso and licorice accents, finishing with alluring notes of sous-bois and mineral. Offers depth and drive. Drink now through 2016."
