91 Pts RP r <font color=red><strong>91 pts Parker </strong></font><br><font color=blue><strong>From Priorat’s New Super Star<br>Glorious Concentration Matched With Elegant Finesse<br>Spectacular Big Reds At Great Prices</strong></font><br><br>There is no question that the great regions of France and Spain have experienced spectacular back to back vintages in 2009 and 2010. Today I focus on a great red from Priorat. This region of scattered hillside and mountainside vineyards makes some of the greatest red wines in the world. Wines like Mogador, Alvaro Palacios L’Ermita and Clos Erasmus are some of the finest wines in the world that hail from Priorat and they have a price tag to match. One of the new super stars of this region is a gentleman by the name of Alfredo Arribas a great Spanish Architect who decided to take his art of precision and apply it winemaking. The results have been spectacular and his wines have been huge accolades from Priorat and Montsant, the area surrounding Priorat. Arribas started in 2001 resurrecting abandoned old vine terraced vineyards and today has 15 hectares under vine. One of the great values coming out of the Priorat is his wine called Gotes del Priorat. In both 2009 and 2010 vintage, the wines received 91 pts by parker. These are both great vintages , 2009 is richer and more opulents and 2010 shows more precision and balance and on this offer I have an opportunity for you to try them both. Both wines are spectacular, superbly rich and supple and exptremely well made. These are big reds at low prices that have the class and depth of wines that are double to triple the price. The wine is a typical blend of old vine Grenache and Carignan with a small percentage of Cabernet that rounds out the wine. The wine spends 11 months in small French oak and is unfiltered to show its true expression. Love big reds Cabs, Malbecs and Shiraz, these wines will blow you away! Hugely concentrated and smooth as silk, definite palate pleasers.<br><br>The 2010 Gotes de Priorat is a blend of 60% Carinena and 40% Garnacha sourced from hillside slopes in the north and northwest of Priorat. Only part of the crop is de-stemmed and the wine is matured in 50% new French oak, the remainder second-fill. It has a lifted, rounded bouquet of wild strawberry and raspberry fruit interlaced with lavender, all with fine delineation and vigour. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fine tannins. This is a comparatively feminine Priorat wine with subtle raspberry and fresh strawberry notes towards the lithe, elegant finish. Delicious! Drink now-2018.
