Dense, sweet and serious, with noteworthy intensity and precision to the flavors of blackberry, pepper and spices. Finishes vibrant and long, with silky tannins and excellent lift. An outstanding value.<br><br>This site in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza is home to 35 hectares of pristine Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, dating back to 1915. The renewal of Goulart began in 1997. Owner Erika Goulart, who inherited the property from her grandfather-in-law, was able to convince renowned agronomist Mauricio Pérez Parody to join the project. Pérez Parody began reworking the vineyard, making sure each plant was properly cropped for quality. Within a year, the work was paying dividends, and they were harvesting perfectly ripe fruit: grapes that made not only for great concentration in the glass, but for wonderfully ripe and supple tannins.

The great Malbec's from Argentina are offering big red quality at by far the best buy in out there and this is one of the best. Parkers WA just looked at Argentina and one of the highest scoring wines at the price was an old favorite of mine. The 2006 Finca Abril Malbec 1922 got 92 pts by Parker and we can offer it to you $27.99. Straight up this is a great buy! The wine displays gorgeous concentration and opulence but has absolutely perfect balance. The wine gets its name from a tiny one acre vineyard that was planted in 1922. We all know that old vines make the best wines, where you get awesome richness with an elegance to match. Located in La Consulta in Valle de Uco, the mid-west of the Province of Mendoza, these are high altitude vineyards which have the ability to produce long ripening Malbec with great depth and character. This area is one of the best parts of Mendoza like Pauillac in Bordeaux. Yields are extremely low and the wine spends 18 months in new French oak. This red being a 2006 has had time in the bottle to really show. This wine will blow your mind for its incredible concentration, balance and elegance that is normally kept for Cult Cali Cabs and other Cult reds from Chile, Argentina and Australia at much higher prices. I strongly recommend, this wine is complete and ideal red wine drinking over the upcoming colder months. If you want serious quality at a reasonable price this is your wine.<BR><BR><B>Tasting Notes: </B>The 2006 Malbec offers up a sexy perfume of wild berries, underbrush, incense, and lavender. Layered and plush on the palate, this succulent effort has the stuffing to evolve for 2-3 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2012 to 2021. This wine is all about spectacular balance from oak aging, to opulent black fruits, the perfect balance of power verses elegance. Spectacular quality for the price.

Red Wine Hand-Picked 95 Pts ST This is made by what many consider the Masters of Malbec from Mendoza. Brothers Hector and Pablo Durigutti. They became famous with their work with Alberto Atonini (Of Antinori and Frescobaldi) at Altos Las Hormigas, the wines that put Malbec from Argentina on the map in the late nineties. With extensive training in Europe including Antinori. They are the countries most sought after consulting enologists for the likes of Rutini; Catena and Cinco Tierras. Durigutti is their own boutique project and this is wine the Familia is their flagship wines. This wine is recognized as one of the greatest coming out of Mendoza. The wine comes from two of the greatest vineyard sites in Mendoza that have some of the oldest vines in the region. Vineyards were planted in the 1940’s. One from Maipo (The Lulunta Vineyard) and one from San Carlos (The La Consulta Vineyard) Only 250 cases of the wine were made and are extremely rare.<br><br><b>Tasting Notes:</b> Super ripe aromas of cassis, chocolate mint, graphite and sexy oak; reminded me of a Napa cabernet. Lush and broad, with a restrained sweetness and enticing minty lift to the flavors of cassis, licorice and minerals. Sexy oak and inner-mouth floral character add complexity.
