Albarino is thought to have originally been Riesling brought to the Rias Baixas by monks in the early middle ages. The similarities are fairly plausible in this fresh, bright and peachy, appley flavoured white. Theres a firm backbone of acidity which keeps the wine structured and just enough fleshiness to give a flattering mid palate. Adegas Galegas is a small, (though large by Galician standards) modern winery, owning 60 hectares of vineyards. Plantings of high trellised Albarino thrive in the cool, lush Mediterranean climate of Galicia and are grown as organically as possible. Vinification includes some maceration with skins to bring out the Albarino character and cool fermentations preserve the lively fruit and floral notes.
Tasting Notes : Very pale lemon, pleasant and distinctive nose of fresh pears and apples with a delicate background of fragrant floral and petal notes, enticing flavours of ripe peaches, limes and melons, with splendid elegance, round and rich with a buttery texture, good balance and acidity with an alluring and lingering finish. Pedro de Soutomaior is the flagship Albariño of the house.
